Today is the beginning of our Nevada Adventure Tour. We head to our hotel, called the Hoover Dam Lodge. This hotel is set amongst the rocky desert hills, inside the Lake Mead National Recreation area. We will spend a relaxing night here and enjoy the casino, restaurants and an the welcoming and causal atmosphere of the hotel. Be sure to wind down the day with a dinner where fellow travelers will have an opportunity to meet and mingle.
Today’s highlight is an a guided tour of the Hoover Dam, where we will see one of the greatest engineering achievements in human history. This dam produces hydroelectric power and water for irrigation by using the Colorado River as its water source. This amazing viewpoint will be from the second highest bridge in the United States, the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. Our next stop will be the historic district of Boulder City where the workers that helped build dam where housed. There are also many shops, cafes, and historic buildings in this charming city to explore on your own. We will then have a brief tour the Las Vegas Strip before settling in at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.
Today, we wake up and have some free time to explore the city of Las Vegas. After the morning, The National Atomic Testing Museum is next on our Vegas tour stop. We move on to visit the famous Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, called the “Mob Museum”. Las Vegas was once a city ruled by the Mafia and Gangsters, and it’s colorful history is captured in this museum for all to see. The Museum is in the historic Justice Department building, where mobsters were tried and brought to justice. We will be sure to end the evening with an option to spend additional time in downtown Las Vegas for dinner on your own. Be sure to make room in your schedule to see the Freemont Street light show.
We depart and leave behind wonderful Las Vegas, Nevada. We’ll be sure to share the memories and stories with each other as we make our way home.
