Day 1 – We embark upon our journey to Phoenix, AZ by deluxe motorcoach while we enjoy the beauty of the desert. Our first stop will be at the Musical Instrument Museum and you will be delighted by the astounding collection of 6,500 instruments and exhibits. Musical devices at this museum are donated from all over the world and include instruments played by John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Carlos Santana, Taylor Swift and others. Our home away from home for the next 5 days will be the comfortable Hampton Inn Tucson, East and a nice evening dinner will be at the homey Cracker Barrel Restaurant.

Day 2 – After breakfast we will travel to the Biosphere 2 for a guided tour of this large-scale experimental, housing seven model ecosystems with active research by teams. This afternoon we will explore the art and architecture of Ted DeGrazia. Including his original home, the adobe Mission in the Sun, Gallery in the Sun and the cactus corral. You will hear about DeGrazia life, history and philosophy. Exploring art mediums and techniques of Native American legends and ceremonies. There are five permanent collections of paintings that trace historical events, native cultures of the Southwest, and a small gallery used for local artists to display their work. After this eventful day, dinner this evening will be at the Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse.

Day 3 – Enjoy breakfast with new friends before our adventure at the Pima Air & Space Museum, one of the largest aviation and space museums in the world! Featuring over 300 historical aircraft, it encompasses five indoor exhibit hangars, two dedicated to WWII all located on an expansive 80 acres. Then it is off to Tombstone, known as “The Town Too Tough to Die”. Walk the same streets that Doc Holliday, Wyatt Earp, Ike Clanton and other legends walked in the Old West. To complete our day, we will visit Bisbee, AZ, a mining town founded in 1880. Today Bisbee is noted for its architecture, including Victorian-style houses and an elegant Art Deco county courthouse in a compact and walkable area. In 2016, Bisbee earned the title of Best Historic Small Town in several national publications

Day 4 – Today we journey to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum The 98 acre Desert Museum is a fusion experience with a zoo, botanical garden, art gallery, natural history museum, and aquarium. Our next stop is the Mission San Xavier Del Bac where we will take a guided tour of this historic place. Founded in 1692 by Jesuit Missionary Father Eusebio Francisco Kino, the church and school continue to serve descendants of the Tohono O’odham Nation.

Day 5 – On our travels home, we will visit the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park. Here you can walk through the actual strap iron cells and solitary chamber of Arizona Territory’s first prison. Now a museum, the building houses photographs and colorful exhibits of those who once “involuntarily” stayed there. As you say good-bye to new friends, be sure to reflect upon the wonders of this Arizona desert trip.
